AI Just Got Scarier For Black Women: The Mirror Is Black, But It Doesn’t Reflect Us

Our likeness is being stolen by an unlikely villain…

Something strange is happening, and I hope I am not alone in this. I fear that the more technology progresses, the human heart regresses, and here is why:

Black women have made it clear over the last several months: We are reclaiming our peace. We are minding our business. We said that out loud.

But while we were centering ourselves, something insidious was brewing. Not in the shadows, but on your screen. On social media. AI-generated videos featuring Black people, especially Black women, in ratchet, violent, humiliating scenarios.

Let me be very clear:
These are not real people. They are AI-generated images, created with tools like Google Veo. The first time I realized what was happening was when my sister shared a video she saw online.

A dark-skinned Black woman, who many would label a “baddie,” — was eating a whole chicken leg. Bone and all. Something was wrong. No real human eats like that.

And it gets worse.
